About TaskForce Prevention and Community Services
TaskForce Prevention and Community Services is a multi-service, grassroots organization committed to improving the sexual health and overall well-being of LGBTQIA+ youth of Color in Chicago. We provide safe spaces for fellowship, HIV and STI screening and education, and on-site referrals to medical, housing, and other social services.
Our communications work centers on community voice, equity, cultural humility, and authentic storytelling.
Position Overview
The Communications Coordinator is a creative, production-focused role responsible for capturing and producing high-quality visual and digital content that reflects the impact of our programs and community work.
This position is ideal for a visual storyteller who thrives in community-based environments and enjoys balancing creative production with collaboration. The role emphasizes photography, videography, graphic design, and short-form digital storytelling. Writing responsibilities are primarily limited to captions, short promotional copy, and supporting text.
What You Will Do
Content Creation and Editing, Approximately 40%
- Capture and edit high-quality photos and videos at programs, events, and community activities
- Produce short-form video content for platforms such as Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts
- Create longer-form recap or promotional video content as needed
- Maintain a consistent visual identity aligned with brand guidelines
- Organize and maintain digital photo and video libraries
Design and Marketing Support, Approximately 35%
- Design flyers, digital graphics, and promotional materials for programs and campaigns
- Collaborate with the Associate Director of Communications on creative concepts
- Support updates to website and social media platforms
- Coordinate branded merchandise and promotional material production
Event Coverage and Community Presence, Approximately 15%
- Attend and document programs and community events
- Support the setup and breakdown of photo and video equipment
- Assist with event promotion and recap materials
Digital and Cross-Functional Support, Approximately 10%
- Schedule and publish content across digital platforms
- Collaborate with internal teams to gather information and support communications needs
- Track deliverables, maintain asset systems, and support communications workflow
Work Schedule and Environment
This is a part-time position, 25 hours per week.
The role is hybrid. The Communications Coordinator is expected to work on-site at least one weekday per week, though this may vary depending on business needs.
Additional in-person attendance is required for:
- Monthly Farmers’ Market events, occasionally on Saturdays
- Major community events such as the Pride Parade
- Other special programs and activations as scheduled
This role includes standing for extended periods at events and lifting up to 20 pounds of equipment

Qualifications
We value demonstrated skills and lived experience. A portfolio is required.
Required
- 2 to 3 years of experience in photography, videography, graphic design, or digital communications
- Strong portfolio demonstrating visual storytelling and production quality
- Proficiency in Canva and Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and InDesign
- Experience producing short-form social media video content
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, event-driven environment
- Ability to lift and transport up to 20 pounds of equipment
Preferred
- Experience working with LGBTQIA+ communities and or BIPOC youth-serving organizations
- Familiarity with website updates and social media performance metrics
- Experience working in nonprofit or community-based environments
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly rate: $33 to $36 per hour, based on education and experience
- Non-exempt, eligible for overtime consistent with law
- Benefits provided in accordance with organizational policy for part-time staff
